| Hands Up houston was founded in 1999 in an effort to bring more shows to Houston. Basically we got tired of driving to austin to see our favorite bands. Essentially this is the same purpose we serve today; To bring our favorite out of town bands to Houston. All of our shows are ALL AGES unless expressly noted. We are run collectively in a DIY (Do It Yourself!) manner. Beacause we promote shows of bands We love, We make sure that the shows are their best. We have professional sound at all our shows, friendly people at the door, and free water coolers. We only book in friendly intimate spaces. We promote every show with pretty posters, handbills, print ads, as well as our website. HANDS UP HOUSTON ensures that the bands we book get paid their guarantees and make sure everybody gets treated fairly. Venues We book at several different venues in houston each with their own unique charm. Live Music Everynight Mary Janes Fat Cat Capacity: 300 Stage 15x15 Full Bar Commments: We do the majority of our shows here. Live Music Everynight Walters On Washington Capacity: 250 Stage: 10x20 Full Bar Comments: Across the street from Mary Janes Fat Cat, when Mary Janes is booked we do shows here. Shows Monday-Thursday Numbers Capacity: 800 Stage: 25x50 Full Bar Comments: We rent outside sound & lights for shows here. Live Music Everynight The Engine Room Capacity: 800 Stage: 25x25 Full Bar Comments: Limited Availability The Axiom Capacity: 250 Stage: 15x15 Full Bar Comments: Spartan Sound System, building also holds a theatre, shows usually start late if there are rehearsals or plays going on.
